Unwanted paragraph tags in ExpressionEngine output
Today I ran into a situation that I couldn't figure out without the help of the EE forums and support people. I have a site that allows anonymous posts via the exp:logmein plugin and a custom coded SAEF to post to the moderated blog. Somehow between last night and today, something changed such that the title of the post started getting
tags added on output even though the custom field format was set to none in the Control panel. After searching through the database and the forums for a clue I posted to the Tech Support forum and go a quick response which led to the resolution. Basically, the field_ft_xx field in the database was getting set to null rather than "none" so EE was bracketing all the data as if it were set to XHTML. My thread can be found here for more details. My resolution was to add specific hidden fields to my custom SAEF that specify the field format on the field that was breaking though there are probably less hacky ways to go about based on a post I referenced in the thread.
